Celebrating its sixth year, the Women’s Health Forum “Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Friends: A health event for women of all ages” was held last Saturday. The sold-out event, which has become Boston’s premier women’s health event, provided more than 850 attendees with the most current information surrounding today’s top women’s health issues.
Keynote speakers included New York Times best-selling author Christiane Northrup, MD, and Liz Walker, CBS-4 new anchor, who provided an inspiring address to kick-off the day.
A luncheon discussion, “Women’s Health Matters,” featured Paula A. Johnson, MD, MPH, chief, Division of Women’s at BWH, and Liz Brunner, WCVB-TV, news anchor, who provided helpful tips on how to interpret health media reports.
A variety of morning and afternoon educational workshops led by BWH experts provided insight on topics including arthritis, eating, financial well-being, menopause, skin care, gynecological health, sleeping, heart healthy cooking, planning for healthy golden years, and stress and the African-American woman. BWH staff also provided blood pressure screenings, body fat measurements and osteoporosis risk assessments.
